How fun! I have a friend who also likes to talk about finances and it's nice to be able to bounce ideas off of one another.

We should start WCI chapters!

That would be awesome - I volunteer for guest speaker!

We went to a locally owned place. Nothing fancy. Lunch for two probably $20. Yes DMdoc I am pleased to find a local that I can talk to about the topics discussed on this blog.

Glad to hear it
I had visions of you each bringing your own brown bag lunch and eating at a picnic table

I would love to have some local gfs to chat about this stuff - I tried with my SIL and she thought I was crazy when I started talking about FI at age 45 (I'm 35).

I never know what kind of meal money-people would have together. Would it be a steak and caviar sort of thing since we have money, or dollar-menu at McDonald's since we spend as little as possible?

Yes conniebird I find few people male or female are interested in finances. Yes doctor mom and I chatted about asset allocation and withdrawal rates, housing issues. It was really refreshing and fun. I hope we do it again.

Super cool! I am trying to have a "club" of local gfs to chat about finances...but it's tough when I'm the only one interested in the topic!

DoctorMom and Hatton1 go to lunch
For those of you who are blog readers you know who DoctorMom is already. She and I figured out by stray comments that we lived near each other. We met and went to lunch this weekend. It was great to meet someone else who is enthusiastic about personal finance. We both are older than the average forum reader (50s) so we both want to inspire you younger docs to know that it is possible to wander around a while before you really figure this stuff out and still get to a secure place. Sometimes the world is a small place. Also remember it is ok to make mistakes. Life long learning can apply to finance also.Tags: None
