Agree, deposit it into your account, and you tax a state tax deduction (if your state allows it).

FWIW, I don't see any better way or any negative implications.

    Grandparents' 529 gift

    Hi all,

My dad wants to gift $6k to my son's 529 in UT. He doesn't have a bank account in the US since he lives overseas. UESP informed me that they only accept either direct ACH transfers from a bank account or a check. Do we have any recourse other than deposit the money into our bank account first and then contribute to 529? Any negative implications of this? It is under the gift tax limit. Thanks in advance!
