I misunderstood the OP. I though the reference was to another blog, not WCI.

For example my blog only permits comments by DrMom. Thems the rules.

AOF- You are hysterical. You are one of the few authors that make me laugh when reading about math and finance.  Thank you!

I think I see Rodan and Fields facebook posts from some physicians I know pretty much daily.

    1. I am shocked they are doing this.

    2. They are annoying.

Ha! Got hit up for this one last weekend during dinner. "Oh, your wife would be a perfect candidate for this skin cream I'm selling!  She could make a lot of money and I'm sure I could get her approved"

I appreciated the marketing pitch, but politely declined on my wife's behalf.  My wife considers spending more than $10 on skin cream blasphemous; so I don't see her as being a very believable evangelist.  R&F are aggressively targeting physicians.

One of numerous issues I have with the typical MLM is how they often rely on people to leverage their network of friends and business associates to become customers. Both my personal Facebook feed and groups like Physician Side Gigs have too much product promotion and “PM me about an amazing business opportunity.

”Meanwhile, LuLaRoe, a prominent MLM company, is being sued for $1 Billion for being a pyramid scheme. To which I ask the plaintiffs, what part of MLM did you not understand?

Every time I’m faced with someone who refuses to believe their current gig is a MLM, I simply ask them two questions:

    1. Does your gig’s training really emphasize to sign-up friends and family?

    2. Do you get paid in any way, shape, or form when they sign up?

If the answer to those two questions are “Yes”, then you’re in a MLM.

I’ve had a few people argue that other businesses could market to friends and family, which gets three follow up questions:

    3. Are you responsible in any way for the training/mentoring of people you sign up?

    4. Does that training emphasize signing up their friends and family?

    5. Do you get paid in any way, shape, or form for people who your second tier signs up?

If the answer to those are still “Yes”, then you have literally just defined a MLM scheme.

That was an interesting article on LuLuRoe. I’ve got quite a few friends whose spouses are aggressively marketing on Facebook but, as happens too often, very few of them are seeing success.  I’m all for people starting small businesses, but there are so many better ways to do it.

I guess sex life and lose weight triggered it.  Well now we all know.

They didn’t moderate you out here. So that’s good to know. For me it may have been links.  I am quick to show people where I get info that informs how I think about finance.  I am very interested in seeing how people think about finance and try not to be argumentative.  Finance can be such a taboo in our society and our personal values interplay so much that it can be sensitive sometimes to discuss.

yes but i am also interested in sex life and weight loss.  these can be taboo issues also.  ????

is there a separate WCI subforum on these topics?  you know, like the beginner forum?

it’s pretty much anything goes on these forums right?  i feel like the meet the parents guy where he is at the airport and he keeps saying bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb.    that ended pretty well for him.

Speaking of “bomb”, did you see the WCI drop the f-bomb in his post above?

It's a totally different system on the forum. That's why there's a forum.

Lot of medications. Guess a dr site probably gets all kind of scam/spam in that category.

I don't think I ever recommended narcotics to anyone on the blog or forum.  At least not yet. So that wasn't it for me.  Although a few deep breaths, waiting 30 minutes, and having a beer before the next comment wouldn't be bad advice at times.
