  • iPod replacement for exercising

Any suggestions to replace my old iPod shuffle? I know I am behind the times but until recently it worked great when I run. I want something that sounds decent and I can download all the iTunes music I have purchased. Apple customer service told me the Apple watch was my only option if I didn't want to use my iPhone. I'm not interested in Apple watch or using my iPhone. Thanks in advance.

Why not a used iPod? An Apple Watch or iPhone are probably your only current options for using iTunes music. You could probably buy ten used iPods for $20 and keep using them until apple phases out support.

I am not an apple person but I do not understand why you would not just use your phone?

I stand corrected - these things are holding their value better than I expected, for a device that was discontinued five years ago. Still, $20-30 for a used shuffle on eBay isn’t bad!

Apple tech is highly collectible, even if it's not that old.

Your old one might be worth a lot more than you think.

Yes. I’m kind of curious why you don’t just use your mobile phone. I like being able to listen to music or a podcast while also being able to call or text in an emergency.

I don't like dragging the phone with me. I've tried in my pocket, the arm band thing and it just irritates me. Emergencies have crossed my mind but I run in my neighborhood and on well traveled bike trails and so far no need to have used the phone.

What’s irritating about it? I can see it being irritating sloshing around in a pocket but an arm band keeps it out of your way.

I can't really explain it. It feels bulky, annoying. Weighs me down on my 9 minute miles, lol.

Some Garmin watches will sync an iTunes music library.

Buy a used or refurb shuffle on ebay.

Xtrainerz, IconX- These are earbuds that can save music. I just googled "earbuds that save songs." I've never used any of these, so I have no idea how good or bad they are.

Apple watch or something like that seems like the most practical option, tbh. I just use my phone and earbuds when I workout, but I don't jog/run for miles at a time.

Problem solved, I will buy a used one on ebay.
CordMcNally I will re-try the arm band thing in the meantime. Thanks all. You guys/gals know everything.

forget the arm band, you need a waist band or pack, you won't even feel the phone
