Seems like you should drink beer when you're thirsty for maximum enjoyment.

Hahaha no I pee like twice a day- first thing in the morning and bedtime. Not drinking a lot of liquid is a real time saver;-)

I love water. I don’t have a goal but drink a lot of it. I remember being in some work sponsored well being seminar and we were asked to make goals for self care and someone said her goal was to drink water. And I was like “oh, you mean more water?” And she said, no, she meant she never drank water, period. Only drank other beverages. It blew my mind but I guess it’s not that uncommon.

I drink a glass of hot water in the morning, then about a liter of water while at work after lunch. I get thirsty mainly because I keep the office a toasty 72F. After that it's whenever. I don't force myself to drink. I have a very delayed thirst trigger; I'll hike for a couple of hours in Norcal 90 degree+ temperatures , and I won't really be thirsty until I get back home several hours later. But then I'll chug 3-4 glasses of water.

Also, you Americans are crazy and should quit drinking ice water all the time - unless you're actually trying to shut down your bowels.

I agree. Tonight i had 1/2 cup of Cuvee mixed with 1/2 cup of rum on ice. My own reeses peanut butteresque leftover mixture. After that a cup of ice water. I don’t know if it’s good but I can feel it spiking my happy dopamine followed by a flood of forebrain gaba

Interesting. After prolonged zone 2 exercise I have to go #1. Same is true if I’m cold for a prolonged period of time. I know, TMI,
but I always thought it was due to free water byproduct from fat metabolism.

I know that I am far removed from biochemistry but I do not recall learning about the "free water cycle". Did you discover this Burritos?
FWIW I consume liquids all day. I start with 2 cups of coffee and a diet coke. I love LaCroix lime and key lime water. I used to drink a lot of diet Lipton citrus green tea but the pandemic seems to of effected its availability.

                    6am coffee
                    7am coffee
                    10am coffee
noon 24oz water (Cool but not ice legobikes )
                    2pm coffee
2-4pm coffee or hot tea sometimes
Dinner Diet iced tea or soda
After dinner I do not usually drink much but it is usually water if anything just because I many be thirsty. Couple/few times a month we have evening drinks.

Coffee is all black without sugar same for the occasional tea

On days I work out or bike in the morning I have an extra 24oz of water at 7-8am.

I do not strive to do any of this. It is just the pattern I have fallen into. I find on weekends when busy I forget to drink all day until I get the caffeine withdrawal headache in the afternoon.

I don’t strive for any specific fluid intake. I drink milk > kombucha > water. Gave up soda 3 or 4 years ago.

burritos, do you eat one meal a day or do you only restrict your fluid intake?

Is there an inverse correlation between net worth and drinking water? I've never seen such a large anti-water drinking cohort.

Fwiw, I drink anywhere between 8-14 cups of water daily and feel noticeably worse when I drink less. However I can freely drink and use the bathroom anytime during the workday so that is not a limiting factor.

When I'm not pregnant, I drink a ton. When I'm pregnant (currently ready to pop), I can't drink enough on top of my usual.

I tend to be pretty active, and notice a huge difference when I'm not drinking as much water. I avoid most caffeine (looking forward to my one cup of coffee post-pregnancy...haven't been able to tolerate this whole time). I do drink alcohol occasionally when not pregnant, but can't have much or feel the effects. I've started doing more electrolyte solutions instead of just straight water, as I feel like I get more bang for my buck. This is especially helpful on the days when I am more active, as I just can't seem to get enough fluids.

Pre-pregnancy I would guess I drink a minimum of 80-90oz daily, in addition to eating a mostly plant-based diet (i.e. getting water from my foods too).
Pregnancy, I don't feel good unless I'm getting 100+ per day (and will drink quite a bit during the night to make up for what I don't get in during the day).

Previous kidney stone. I drink 3L a day pretty religiously. The pain from a kidney stone can do that to a person. Also, I weigh 160 lbs and exercise regularly, nothing tastes as good to me when I'm thirsty than water.

From clinical experience I see the opposite—the lower the SES the less water and the more other beverages a person drinks
