    I think the old saying was something like it is time to get out of the market when you are getting stock tips from shoe shine boys.

    I should have known to get out of Facebook when I realized the only people using it were my septuagenarian mother and her friends wintering in The Villages.

    Just a correction. There's no replacement for it currently. TikTok is stealing revenue, but not a social discussion platform. FB replaced AOL. What's here to replace FB? Relevance in pop culture sure;

      Like many tech companies, a lot got a little too heated and are coming back down to Earth.

        Good example of why indexing is preferred to individual stocks!

            I don’t own individual Facebook stock but about 2% of my portfolio is in Facebook just from indexing in total market/S&P 500/Large Cap across all my accounts.

                Monopolies are ultimately harmful to society.

                More than pop. culture here. Big money and power and government.

                  I read an old book by Peter Lynch talking about all the great companies that he bought, most of them I knew the names but their time has come and past like most big companies. The great companies then were Kodak , xerox , sears and Polaroid. I am sure Facebook will go in a similar fashion and make a lot of money disappear in the process.

                    So let’s just assume that the previous posts are doctor group think( a category that is notoriously wrong in my opinion and experience). What if Facebook/ Meta is at the vanguard of AI , or Ready Player One? I’m not buying now, doesn’t fit into my investment direction. But, my oldest works in their product development, and the future isn’t just social networking with them. A lot of insider buying. Morningstar lists them as very undervalued

                      Oculus is a technically intriguing product. We lost all interest in it when “Meta” required a Facebook account to use it.

                          I enjoy a good quality cigar two or three times per year, usually at a wedding, on the golf course, or when meeting with old friends from college or the military. While the cigar is rather pleasant when I’m smoking it, the next morning my mouth tastes like an ashtray and I wonder why the heck I did that.

                          The one or two times per year I look at someone’s Facebook feed, I get a grubbier, more queasy feeling than the morning after smoking a cigar.

                            Based on consensus here, I better tell my kid to seek employment elsewhere. Possibly at an NGO

                              Facebook has arguably done more to harm civil discourse & foster hatred than any other platform ever.

                              Kinda impressive when you think about how its only been around for less than 20 years.
