In life, the cowardly play excessive and neurotic levels of defense.

I'm all for whatever helps you sleep at night, but you have to draw the line somewhere. When you are reviewing dash cam footage and your pets are setting off your home security so you have to rearrange sensors next weekend and you are checking your phone for your doorbell cam daily, ehhh....

As was said, we pay insurance and retain attorneys and have EFund for a reason. It is sometimes best to live your life an not plan for the 1 in X rare events.

For my wife, we purchased the adaptor that plugs into the On Board Diagnostics port that is present on all modern cars. This adaptor allows the camera/sensor to run even when the car is parked, and senses the voltage of the car battery, and can be adjusted to turn off when the voltage decreases to 11.5V/11V/10.5V etc. This allows it to run for perhaps 6 or 12 hours even when parked.
question : can you can switch it off or on remotely ? Thx

Yes, but it's hard to be a prepper in the realm of personal finance, and just give up that tendency for everything else. (Paraphrased from a classic prior WCI contributor quote.)

Not sure, but I don't think so.

Go bare on insurance too and not wear a seatbelt too for those rarer events and change the tires when they're bald.

Ring/Alexa are way more intrusive and annoying than install dashcam and access when needed setup
