Hi all,
I am a 36 year old anesthesiologist. I am currently making 350k plus about 16k 401k contribution. My job has lots of calls (q3). Although calls generally are not bad, I absolutely hate them. There is an opportunity to share a contract as a civilian contractor working half time making a bit over half of my salary now with very minimum calls.
I am saving aggressively (50% of net income) that past few years with the goal to retire in 8-10 years. So taking a pay cut will slow down my progress but not having to take calls, I might stay in the work force longer.
I know I have to look at all the pros and cons and decide, I just want to write it down and see what other people think!
