Have 40 lb weighted vest for pullups, pushups and gardening. I have some 10 lb bar curls that I will throw into a backpack if I want to pull up more. I feel that traversing at my wall climbing gym gets me decent resistance and stretching.

For me though, my proudest flexes has been being able to do pistol squats and being able to touch my nose on the ground with 1 handed push ups and nordic hamstring curls. Tyreek is doing it but not touching his nose on the ground:

How about Turkish get ups? I saw a dude at my gym doing them with a barbell and a plate on each side ... And NO COLLARS. total concentration, strength, and body control. Left and right handed.

I just installed a pull up bar in my garage. Got everything for about $100 at Home Depot. I’m not good at pull ups, but looking to improve and eventually complete a Murph in a respectable amount of time.

            No. That's too hard.

It’s long term goal. I’m under no illusion that I’ll do it anytime soon.

As they say, shoot for the stars and even if you miss, you’ll still land in a pool of your own vomit with rhabdo.

                    That's a pretty picture.

Don't most crossfitters kip their pullups for the Murphy WOD? It makes a huge difference. My CrossFit friend can barely do two strict pullups but he can kip them all day and night. I'm the opposite, since I've never tried to learn how to kip.

I've never quite understood kipping. It reminds me of those people at the gym who are doing dumbbell curls and just flop their body around until the dumbbell is at its finishing point. I know kipping is supposed to be a controlled movement but I'm not sure I buy the 'more work in less time' mantra.

Lol. It’s just momentum. Time under tension is 1 millisecond. A little bit harder to do 3 second slow strict reps, and a lot more work.

                          • 61 yrs. of age and have been weight training since my teens. Consider myself in fairly good physical condition. I've found Drew Baye's website/forum to contain the most intelligent info on strength training. I'm not a physician mind you, but I'd thought I would put it to you folks regarding alcohol consumption. I suppose since the Covid-19 pandemic began, I started a bit of a drinking habit of sorts. One, sometimes two vodka martinis when I get home from work helps me decompress. Guess I could've picked a better habit. Nonetheless, does this make me an alcoholic? I can go without btw. Do you think this will inhibit muscle growth? Cause my liver to become cirrhotic over time? And fwiw, my wife is not thrilled about my little habit.

                              Kipping vs strict vs butterfly

Gymnast vs Cross fit coach vs Cross fit CEO vs PT(?). Decibels start to rise at the 9:30 mark.

                              • *bump it*

Kettlebells are kinda cool - been going to some classes lately at the gym.

I consider them essentially a lighter version of compound workouts (squats, bench, deads, etc) along with aerobic training.
