  • What's in your Wallet?

I am ashamed to admit I have a George Constanza wallet. Too much stuff. It has actually ruined more then one pair of pants because of the way it sits in my pocket. It is mostly out of laziness or convenience.

    Here is what I got;
Cash (obviously, but I carry more then I need because I am lazy and do not put it away at home)
    2 credit cards I use
    1 CC I do not
Debit card I do not use
HSA Card I do not use
Dental insurance card, Just found my current one and 2 expired ones.
    Medical insurance card
    Drivers license
    Pistol Permit
Physician picture ID from NYS Current and 1 from a few years ago
Old membership card to children's museum
Old tickets to a kids indoor play area (not going there for a while)
    ABFM card
    Library card
    Old AAA card
Pizza punch card (only need 1 more!)
RFID card to buzz into my kids daycare

Looking at the dates on the old junk it looks like it has been between 3-4 years since my last purge.

I cleaned out the junk as I made this post and now the pockets are too loose and stuff falls out. I guess it is time for a new wallet!

What do you carry on a daily basis? Anyone else have a lot of junk? Do you have an alternative to a wallet?

Before someone suggests it I am not doing the man purse thing.

I did not separate it out but I keep an extra 50 or 100 bill tucked behind my drivers license just in case. It has come in handy when I forget to get cash or CC issues. Now that I have a second CC that I can use I hope to avoid that.

I have developed an odd habit. One old wallet at home that holds many of my membership cards, the hard copy of the credit card I used for recurring payments, my work travel CC, CAC card, spare business cards etc.

In my carry wallet, two personal CC (Chase Sapphire for travel etc., USAA cash rewards for everything else), ATM debit card, drivers license, military retired ID, medical insurance card, about $100, and a few business cards.

I downsized several years ago when I was bothered by the size as well. Put all business loyalty cards/botanical gardens cards on Keychain app, credit cards onto apple wallet and insurance card on insurance company app.
Usually head out only with phone that has rear case holder with AmEx, drivers license and $20.
                Wallet still has:
                $0-$100 cash
                insurance card
                ATM card
                Visa card
Target card (they don’t have apple wallet option and I frequently forget to bring it when going to Target)

I think I am going to steal your odd habit. It sounds like a good idea. I am not joking about needing a new wallet mine is probably 10 years old if not older. It is a cheap fossil trifold wallet given to me as a gift years ago. Maybe it is time for something nice and I will use this one for storage at home.

                    Any suggestions?

$25 an appointment x4. It's the only place I use cash.

In addition to eliminating some of the items you carry in a wallet, I recommend the following wallet by Allett. Instead of having two overlapping areas for various credit and ID cards, it has 4. It really makes for a much slimmer design. And it is relatively inexpensive. I switched from a typical bifold leather wallet to this one a few years ago and my pants and backside both thank me.

$25 isn't that bad. $18-19 here with tip. I was hoping it wasn't ONE cut.

You can simplyfy even more and just use the AAA app.

I too carry no cash. Hasn't been a problem in about a decade. If I'm going to the farmer market, sometimes I will get a few bucks.
