I wish I could say the same on the 5G.

I just keep reminding myself that I can't reason somebody out of something that they didn't reason themselves into.

Does that mean Santa is switching political parties?
Does that mean Santa will become an Independent and will become a Supreme Court Justice and will ACTUALLY vote based on facts and not vote upon party lines ?
The problem is this vaccine has become politicized to the Nth degree. AND the political participants reverse course and repent. AND then, all are expected to vote 100% along party lines. Many view the mandates being one of many changes that they view as only ONE of many changes that they view as completely changing our society.
Not small changes, but hundreds of significant changes. Maybe the changes are needed. The emotional resistance to the mandates is not based on science, it is based on the polarization that we live in. I really wish that Covid had not been politicized. Actually, I wish that many of the issues had not been politicized and problems identified and solved. Vaccines and therapeutics are good. Period. The politics have linked THIS vaccine to advocating for at least 100 other interests.

The only question I have philosophically, is where personal responsibility for protecting others stops. Maybe a vaccine, maybe a booster, maybe a mask, maybe social distancing, maybe a home test once a week etc...... The end game and segregating the health issue from politics would be helpful. Right now, it is a political issue.

For sure, no one knows the answer. Stop using it as a political issue. Unfortunately, since it is the #1 issue, that is unrealistic.
That is what I want from Santa.

From big Wall Street banks to corner grocery stores, all private employers in New York City will have to require their workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the mayor announced Monday in the most sweeping vaccine mandate of any state or big city in the U.S. The move by Mayor Bill de Blasio comes as cases are climbing again in the U.S. and the worrisome but little-understood omicron variant is gaining a toehold in the nation's largest city and elsewhere around the country. “We in New York City have decided to use a preemptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of COVID and the dangers it’s causing to all of us,” he said.

“We in New York City have decided to use a preemptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of COVID and the dangers it’s causing to all of us,” de Blasio said. “All private-sector employers in New York City will be covered by this vaccine mandate as of Dec. 27.”

Like this? Let any state and local official use the word "We have decided" and kick people out of work. Easy. Right? Just use the word "We" and forget about legislators or courts. Very apolitical since "We have decided." Geez. Is there no limit on mayors or any government power? 12/27/21

                    • I'd be surprised that a lawsuit isn't filed to put that on ice by close of business today.

This type of broad public mandate should be coming from the public health sector and legislative in order to really hold water if no true emergency is in place.....

emergency defined as something like health system at risk of collapse like it was in NYC March 2020. It isn't right now and getting ahead via executive branch order is not warranted.

That said there's a definite holiday spike ongoing. We have been at ~500 cases a day here and last three days 1000+ cases and rising. That's not omicron. Thats delta hitting people living life and not making good choices over the holiday weekend

While this policy will almost certainly not hold in court, it's much more refreshing to see a political figure actually try to do something to prevent the spread.

On the flip side: there are GOP pols who are passing laws which allow folks who were fired from their job for refusing to take the vax and previously uneligible for unemployment benefits to be given an exemption? I can't even begin to fathom the rationale behind that type of muddleheaded maneuver...

                              Government overreach is never refreshing.
