I received my 3rd Moderna vax ~4 weeks ago. At the time I was a bit nervous but I figured it was inevitable and risk to benefit was in my favor. Minimal side effect and I think the more data that comes out the more beneficial it appears.

People's continued negligence with the disease is completely mind blowing. Our clinic office manager appeared sick Tuesday when walking into my office. Of course mask down until they walked in then put it up. Right away I thought COVID. Wednesday I get an email saying they are working remotely and tested positive for COVID. Turns out their spouse was at home sick with COVID and they were actively working in the clinic, intermittent masking, and informed nobody. At the very least mask 100% and honestly stay in your office and try to avoid other people. Seems even medical people fall victim to denial when they get sick.

I had 2nd in February so was waiting for the vote but now I’m planning to get it on a day when I have the next one off in the event I don’t feel good. Got Moderna and had considered changing to Pfizer to add another into the mix but with recent data will stick with Moderna.

Funny because my motivation for seeking out Moderna back when it looked like it was equivalent to Pfizer was to avoid the strict refrigeration requirement which I suspected would be royally screwed up somewhere along the chain.

I am waiting until an updated booster with recent variant strains is released.

Does the vaccine target anything that is changing? My impression is that the different strains still all have the same common component proteins that the vaccine is effective against. So a new vaccine is not needed. Someone please correct me if I am thinking about this wrong.

I think pfizer said its currently working on an updated version of the vaccine as some of the new variants have a different spike protein.

              • Have my 3rd dose of Pfizer scheduled for Lunch today at local CVS. Scheduled it as soon as saw the FDA announcement yesterday. I cant imagine how good the government will be able to triangulate my coordinates after a 3rd dose. 😆 🤣 😂

I would like to see the published data that a 3rd dose of Pfizer boosts you up to come up to the Moderna level of protection which had only 2 doses given.

Maybe it would have been nice to have a randomized trial of booster for the original 2 dose Pfizer with either a 3rd dose of Pfizer or switching to Moderna for the 3rd dose. I bet Pfizer would not have liked that in case the its booster showed inferior results.

Call me a cynic but I am losing confidence in the Pfizer's vaccine, which initially promised high effectiveness but it fell off the cliff rapidly. As I had stated earlier I changed horses and took Moderna as my 3rd dose after getting 2 doses of Pfizer in Dec 2020/Jan 2021.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my hospital's Employee Health department will make boosters available, because for documentation/paperwork reasons I'd prefer to get it through them. But I have a trip planned at the end of October, so I'd like to receive a booster before then; if Employee Health drags its feet for too long, I may make arrangements elsewhere.

                      Done and doner.
I keep seeing really sick (not hospitalized, but really sick) 40 somethings with Pfizer breakthroughs.

I did the same. I'm heartbroken my elderly parents had to get a third dose of Pfizer, but they were told that was the only option, they couldn't switch to Moderna.
I got a Moderna booster and am contemplating finishing the Moderna series.

You know, I really do wonder if the winning trifecta will turn out to be one dose of an adenovirus vector vaccine (to boost T-cell mediated immunity) + one dose of an mRNA vaccine (to boost humoral immunity) + one dose of a killed virus vaccine (to expose the immune system to other epitopes besides the spike protein). I guess we'll have to wait and see what works best.

We had a non-physician staff member working in the IMMUNOCOMPROMISED CANCER ICU who came to work with significant respiratory symptoms because she didn't want to use a vacation day. Wore mask over mouth but not nose while spending > 15 min with patients. Worked without a mask in an enclosed space with other office personnel despite guidelines regarding masking. I am told she was reported to management who sighed heavily and did nothing.

She tested positive for COVID the next day.

Can you really not be criminally liable for this? You don't get a pass for swerving all over the road just because you didn't hit anyone (and I don't even have confirmation she "didn't hit anyone").

There is one that I know of which includes NYU as a site. Considered it, but the number of lab draws required at their site wouldve made it intolerable to participate in while working.

If she's vaccinated isn't CDC guidance that she does not need to quarantine?
