Post Janssen vaccine - unknown - No guidance. Been seeing folk rec either mRNA -- but no real significant evidence to support this action.
Moderna has been outperforming Pfizer lately in the breakthroughsand thought more because of the higher dosing regimen that Moderna schedule had than Pfizer. (remember the SE profile on Pfizer was better than Moderna -- makes sense).
The thought differences between Moderna/Pfizer for the third shot comes down to this -- is this is completion of a series to intend a complete vaccination vs a booster of a waning titer? If the former, one may want to consider Moderna. If the latter, Pfizer would be logical to leverage. How would we know which to choose? Who knows.
My going forward rec would be:
If you had two shots and absolutely no symptoms - probably wise to choose Moderna
If you had a decent amount of typical anticipated symptoms - would be comfortable with Pfizer 'booster'.

I dislike having two CDC cards, and I feel guilty not going back for my second Moderna.
Godspeed for the elderly.

I got #3 moderna after 2 Pfizers. It kicked my butt last night. Rigors, nausea, dizziness, muscle pains. About 3 PM the symptoms resolved. I got nauseated with Pfizer but never had a fever or rigors. I will have to tell Pfizer about it this week.

He kept taking shots for gift cards, raffles, etc. Other people responded in the thread with personal or patient experience with 3 or mote shots.
I am worried about a 2nd shot after getting the J & J but think it is probably worth it.
Seems like an unknown and a potential risk, but possibly worth it.
Hard to know?
Hindsight will show it to be smart or foolish and it will seem obvious.Last edited by Tangler; 08-15-2021, 03:05 PM.

It would be nice if they actually had determined how to test and determine IF and when a booster was needed and then determine which of the possibilities was best.
Yes, we have the momentum moving towards boosters. It would be nice if we had a way to be checked and then make informed choices or recommendations. Fauci seems to favor mass boosters, just in case.
Hatton went “I got #3 moderna after 2 Pfizers.”
Wife and I had 2 Moderna’s. I’ll consider the #3 Pfizer. Maybe I’ll call Baylor or just use Kroger’s. The same guy that was prohibited by CDC guidelines even though he and I knew I was eligible.
We seem to take the most difficult and indirect path. Government is frustrating.Last edited by Tim; 08-15-2021, 04:09 PM.

Have people been asking vaccine status of the staff in these situations? Asking for only vaccinated hygienist?
Resp therapist seems bad too but hygienist has a lot of exposure and it is all day long.
Anesthesia is not exactly low risk but hygienist is spit city.
I guess you can always ask, but I would be surprised if they did not get vaccinated.
By now I would guess they would have either been vaccinated or have had it.

Everyone else wants everyone vaccinated. The seed has been planted. If one is unvaccinated, they are a problem.
