By county, CDC is recommending vaccinated people were masks indoors for about 2/3 of the population (225m). Regardless of percentage vaccinated or “herd immunity”.

The science she uses is transmission is just as easy for vaccinated as unvaccinated. True, but a statement that has an opinion baked in. An assumption that a vaccinated individual has been infected. The assumption is conveniently assumed.
There's questions on this and whether true or not on viral loads. We haven't really pursued it here. Universal masking in clinic settings remains in force as well as symptoms quarantine at home for staff.

In small groups of agreed vaccinated person's of less than 10. Unmasking allowed.

    That's a reasonable ask imho.

There maybe a risk of transmission, but we haven't documented any presymtomatic vaccinated spread so I think that blanket guidance is a bit premature

    • Should have tied the vaccination to people getting their stimulus checks. You can't count on people who should mask to wear a mask so make them prove they're doing their part if they want free money. I'm tired of these intermittent random mask mandates.

      • Imo- If they’re mandating my kids to wear masks in public schools (which I admittedly think is a bigger deal than most on this board) than they should be mandating the vaccine to everyone collecting their free stimulus money.

        • Agree with the sentiments of vaccinate in order to receive check..... But.....

Where in government do we have any criteria for x personal health action in order to receive y incentive?

Insurances. Yes. How to do that on Obamacare and medicare recipients? That would be first and would clearly benefit in cost containment....just don't see how it would be administered

Legit concern cause Bill Gates really needs the money, right? SMH

He's currently an embarrassment to all billionaires because he hasn't been to space. I bet he gets made fun of at all their get-togethers.

Premature is a little bit of an understatement. If I read her intent, she wants to require masks in any gathering, vaccinated or not. Encouraging County/state/ or schools or businesses to require masks, period. This not an inadvertent comment. Her criteria is stated. The incentive is an individual will be “allowed” into any public place or gathering with a mask. The incentive is clear. Wear a mask or stay home or away from society. Is that “requiring” a personal health action? The CDC doesn’t have authority, but she seems to be trying as hard as she can. Her reason stated does not add up. It is her opinion and using every available option she has.
The reason, someone with Covid can spread.
That is not rocket science, take away your privileges, based on that. This is CDC leadership making recommendations. This is not messaging that Covid can be spread, vaccinated or not and prudent steps. She wants a result, period. Masks.

                • I do like the current carrot stick. Verify vaccination or else you have to swab twice a week to be let in to work.

I think that's good and should be replicated for all events too. Show verified vaccination or negative swab......oh wait....that's vaccine passport....touched the third rail of covid?

I don’t believe she was referring to healthcare.
Do you think all children should be swabbed twice a week to go with Mom to the grocery store or school? There is no distinction between work or anyplace, enclosed space. Swab or vaccine, mandatory.and a mask. Where is the carrot?

Local politicians seemed to be moving to require masks (vaccinated or not). The only thing missing was “shutdown”, all based on the CDC guidelines. A pretty hefty stick because a vaccinated person COULD be infected (rare) and COULD then spread.

Short version, vaccine mandatory and all must mask. There is no carrot from the CDC Director.

                    • Curious to get this group's input on travelling (flying) with unvaccinated young children this month, away from a state with relatively good COVID numbers to one with lower vaccination rates and the Delta cases to match. This is a family vacation with all adults involved fully vaccinated. The CDC says to avoid nonessential travel for the unvaccinated, and we have been exquisitely careful during this pandemic...but the kids' relationship with their extended family is also important to us, and they are excellent maskers. Thoughts?

Very personal question. It's all about your risk tolerance, not ours.

I am the wrong person to ask right now!

It probably would be fine but you run the risk of getting trapped in quarantine if one of the kids get it. If the are little it is hard to contain it from there and the whole family might get it.

The document captures the struggle of the nation’s top public health agency to persuade the public to embrace vaccination and prevention measures, including mask-wearing, as cases surge across the United States and new research suggests vaccinated people can spread the virus.

With COVID I'd rather be inconvenienced and safe than sorry. Traveling with small children under the best of circumstances is well...
It would make more sense in my opinion for the vaccinated adults to come to you.

Sadly, when I now see an article the says “CDC says....” I immediately stop reading.
