It prompted me to increase my international exposure by 0.1% of my investable assets.
Afterwards I looked up the Stockmarket reaction to the JFK shooting and I thought maybe I should have increased it by 0.2%.

Years ago I deferred allocating new cash for a few months because of the Clinton-Lewinsky impeachment hearing. Hopefully I learnt something from that.

My estimation of voting experts ratings (which might be wrong or my understanding of their estimates maybe wrong) appears to be that they seem to be rating :
      - probability of Democrat president : 80%
      - probability of Democrat controlled house and senate : 65%

I don't get it. Is that a joke? Or do you really manage your ratios to that level?

The change I find in my couch would likely make a bigger impact then that. Unless we are talking about a very large portfolio

i find that user’s posts unusual in general, both the writing style and content. It’s above my head.

From what I recall it is a very large (8 figure) portfolio.

But yeah, I find it odd too. The bigger my net worth gets, the less motivated I am to check and tweak.

            • Media is now hyperventilating about the excursion to greet supporters. Here’s a quote

“Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential 'drive-by' just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity," Dr. James Phillips tweeted.

How does Dr Phillips think trump will get back to the White House? Presumably he will eventually leave the hospital and presumably he will not be walking back to the White House. This is just hyperbole. I believe an exposure is defined by unmasked contact for 15 minutes so the people driving him are not considered exposed.

At our work we define close contact as within six feet for greater than 15 minutes. We require masks, but do not consider having one or not as a substitute for physical distance. Once upon a time the 15 minute was posted on the CDC website, but I can’t find reference to it anymore. That said, I agree, the comment you reference is hyperbole.

0.1% of 10m is 10K so no it doesn’t make sense.

I’m the only one with symptoms and I don’t want to infect them (which I may already have), but it’s also difficult/impossible for my wife to care for both kids right now by herself. My mom and dad offered to help, but I don’t want to get them involved as they are 70 y/o.
Sorry to be late in responding. I am a retired OB/GYN. If your wife's incision looks ok. Not red or draining. I see no reason why at 5 weeks out from a C section she could not care for the 5 week old including lifting her from the crib.

From his posts Dontknowmind is a big picture investor not an indexer. Some people follow their portfolios very closely and try to trade on news. Some will bet on different countries and currencies. George Soros comes to mind. As the saying goes "there are many roads to Dublin". I index now but not always and I understand there are many ways to invest. Perhaps do not knock the investing style of someone with a larger net worth.

Regardless I hope he does well and that this might somehow de-politicize masking - at least a little.
My best guess is that because he's a VIP he's going to pretty much get everything regardless if he met the criteria or not. This is the part of medicine I hate the most. VIPs routinely get worse care because of stuff like this.

I took the liberty of doing what all patients do when looking for a doctor. I looked him up. I got a little confused about how make up my mind. Seems like a smart guy, but I have some questions. How much value is 4 years of plastics residency at Michigan do for then switching to an emergency medicine residency? Should I value his consulting work at CNN, and TV shows? Seems to show a lot of name dropping with "prestige names" but I can't tell if he is a researcher, worker bee, or just has a lot of side gigs. Available for expert witness testimony. This was a "medical opinion" and I can't tell his "street cred" in medicine. He seems to specialize in "extreme EM" as a sport. Found a clip of him on FoxNews too. Does this make his opinion just another publicity hound or the greatest thing since sliced bread?

                            • Well I see a difference between doing something because it's necessary and taking a Sunday drive for no reason. That said we knew several Secret Service people had COVID over a month ago and hopefully those were the ones in the sealed cabin.

There's plenty of college kids exposing themselves to covid for alcohol. $20 an hour is a lot of beer money
