I have never once seen that

I love coffee but it doesn’t make a difference for how I feel in the morning so often skip it on weekdays if I don’t want to bother making it.

Weekends as much as I want. Doesn’t seem to interfere with my sleep. We often make homemade hot chocolate from solid chocolate on the weekends too...mmm mocha.

I used to need cream in it but since following the excellent recommendations here and getting a technivorm moccamaster and baratza encore black is delicious. Still love a good cappuccino though.

That's actually not true. Taxing sugary drinks has reduced their consumption, just like taxing cigarettes has reduced smoking.

I don't drink anything with caffeine. Realized 20+ years ago I sleep much better without it.

And I've never understood the appeal of drinking hot liquids.

          So, no coffee for me.

              1 cup.

              which is 6 oz.

which is 3 double shots of espresso.

I am pretty sure I could drink a cup as I am climbing into bed and it would not bother me.

I dilute the coffee my good doctor makes before I'm conscious. I like the taste if I don't have to chew it. Even then, 1-2 cups Max and rarely any caffeine after 11-12am. I fight night owl-ism.

I also enjoy Nuun caffeinated vitamins and Progenex pre-workout but still, not after 12.

Peak caffeine years were during college. At one point I carried espresso beans in a Ziploc bc I couldn't afford the ones covered in chocolate. By grad school I started purposefully quitting so I knew I could. Led to overall less consumption long term.

I've done this before. ~12-16 oz a day. The caffeine still affects me but not that much. I used to switch to Coke Zero at lunchtime, but it was really becoming a horrific habit, so I gave that up for lent.

My in-laws (both doctors who had small children in residency) drink coffee like it is going out of style. Very strong coffee. All day long. I've learned to make a full pot everytime my FIL is at my house.

Why would you ever make less then a full pot?

Used to be the case, something warm before bed. After residency I would just lay awake if I did that. Was a big change.

My coffee pot measures a cup as something very small. So a normal size coffee mug is 2 cups, a car travel cup takes 4. So my 6 cups a day are not as bad as they first seem.

It will likely change for me as my kids get older and have more ability to sleep. I'm chronically getting 2 to 3 hours less sleep than I would like and even that is highly interrupted. My tune might change if I am able to sleep better. I have never given myself a chance to have insomnia. At least not in the past five or six years.

I suppose caffeine content is probably a better way to assess all of this. Sure you could have a small Starbucks coffee and say you’ve had one cup (me), but that’s equivalent to 3 of someone else’s. I’m perplexed that someone can order a large Starbucks coffee and not have their heart explode.

Cafe Bustelo - ever since going down to Miami. straight up or a cortadito when i'm low on sugar. Since I've become lazy, i moved to the Kurieg bustelo which is a far cry, but workable for my daily commute and jumpstart to work.
