The tech is being installed on stamping machines for the cybertruck. What's really slowing down the rollout of cybertruck is nailing down the 4680 battery tech for production scale.

It's sufficient to get Y models rolling out of Texas, but not enough to support cybertruck. Meanwhile Musk does Musk and make crazy tweets like waterproofing .. Agree that he's not CEO quality for a SP500 along the likes of Bezos; but they are where they are because of their actions too. Gotta take the crazy with the crazy.

My bet is that it'll be priced with the Ford 150-Lariat <$80,000 to take full advantage of tax credits -- and would be interesting to see which one wins on specs and sales.

Hate? Or the past over promising? Spec's don't really count. Sales in volume. Could be simply the design. It has been out there a long time and might not go over well. Stale? The shock value has disappeared.

4680 battery announced 2020 just after the Maxwell acquisition. taken 2+ years to get that going to mass production and still only 1/2 of dry process working. This is the primary component to get to scale and cost efficiency.

Talking about scale for US EVs, aside GM Bolt and Nissan Leaf, that's about it for anything close to mass production.

Shock value? Cybertruck still shocking - for better or worse. It will not be subtle when driving down the street. HUMMER of 2020s.

Honestly, my interest has moved to the VW MiniBus 2023 --so much more SoCal

Ukraine comments and then doubling down on them.

The Tesla CEO tweeted a plan that includes allowing Russia to keep Crimea, which it seized in 2014. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded that Musk was taking sides with Russia.

Elon is a great example of someone who learns enough information about a certain topic to think they know more then they actually do - Dunning Kruger effect.

This is not the first time he's put his foot in his mouth - & it def. won't be the last, that's for sure.

I think there have been many many foot and mouth moments regarding Ukraine, miscalculations, walk backs and underestimations of Zelenskyy in Washington. Plenty pretending they actually know something, when they have no clue.

                    • One thing I think people often forget is that Elon said he has Asperger's syndrome. Being on the spectrum may play a role in how he has difficulty getting his intentions across. Doesn't help social media piles on and polarizes any topic or individual.

Theoretically what he said makes sense regarding stopping conflict and senseless loss of lives and destruction. It completely lacks any empathy for the people involved and also ignores any nuance in geopolitics.

Yes, but it also does not mean it is responsible behavior to get into needless high public spats and make public statements. Twitter is not the best choice.
He did use twitter very effectively for the same direct communications. The request came for Starlinks and was granted very very fast because of direct communications. Elon could have easily said, "Call me."

Very true. ASD is hard. I know personally with our son.

At the same time, Musk doesn't get a pass either even being on the spectrum -- especially being a prominent figure in the public space.

Peace and conflict avoidance is a noble goal.

Hard to do it together with a bully. Reference history: Munich Agreement
