Seriously? 96 hour shifts? No wonder FIRE looks so good to you. Is that really what everyone in your group wants?

There are 5 of us, so if we broke up the holidays, we'd each work 40% of them. Typical weekends are 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

It's not as bad as it sounds. I live close to the hospital, sleep through the night maybe half of my call nights, and do maybe 2 to 4 cases each day on average, with a CRNA. Ortho is the busiest, with a smattering of general surgery, urology, OB/Gyn, and the dreaded 0300 labor epidurals.

I'll be off until next year as my reward!
