It is difficult to be brief when there is much to say. I will be short though since writing is not my forte.
This forum has been great to learn from the regulars, WCI himself, and WCI has been one of the few people I know that responds to PMs in earnest. Since I do not frequent the forums or website nowadays anymore I figured I’d leave a post of where I am now as a general forum post as I have received a few PMs.
And as sort of a farewell (maybe I’ll swing by here and there but regular postings I don’t think will be happening)
In the past 2-3 years I have gone on an entrepreneurial journey while managing being a new attending. It has been stressful, but more so an incredible growth experience. Just as a glimpse these are the things I am doing/businesses:
What has really made it hard to manage all of this is now two young kids, while staying in shape via physical activity/exercise.
I am mentioning all of this not as humble brag but I guess as inspiration for others that it is possible to branch out of medicine if you work hard while "young" (I'm 36). All of this requires quite a bit of effort and is not “passive”. I do want to cut down something and that probably means going part time in medicine. I also want to add some regular volunteering at church soon. Oh and romance takes effort! so I want to focus on keep wifey happy as well.
I still remain beginner level on taxes though I am improving (best way is to self do it but I use CPA …which retards hard learning but getting there) and not an expert on market investments. I hope to keep learning from helpful posters here. It has been great to have you guys as resource. Pardon my affront in the past; I’m much mellower now J
Stay the course.

In the past 2-3 years I have gone on an entrepreneurial journey while managing being a new attending. It has been stressful, but more so an incredible growth experience. Just as a glimpse these are the things I am doing/businesses:
- Commercial real estate with 2 other partners. Representative example is recently have developed a project on bought land and will be flipping it for 1.4 million profit to be shared with partners. It is a strip center with good anchor. Others include gas station led shopping center, another is office building and we just started on a hotel project.
- Lending business: this has been incredible. I’ll just say that there is never a shortage of good people wanting money. Think my own lending club.
- Owning 3 retail businesses with an operating partner.
- Two ecommerce sites. One better than the other but profitable. Again with an operating partner.
- Supporting wife’s thriving service and product business (beauty business).
What has really made it hard to manage all of this is now two young kids, while staying in shape via physical activity/exercise.
