  • Paying US income taxes on New Zealand income

We're planning on relocating to New Zealand for a year in about a year. My only experience with paying taxes on money earned in a foreign country is 100% rumors and hearsay. Since my US based business will continue to operate here (at least that's the plan), I'm not even clear whether or not money is being earned in a foreign country or not. We'll be living there and I'll still be running the business, but...

Actually, there's lots of buts whenever I start thinking about it. So confusing all around.

Does anyone have a useful starting point equivalent to WCI for researching this stuff? Preferably from personal experience rather than hand-me-downs.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Chris

There are a lot of sites on the net for expat taxation. Greenback is supposed to be pretty good. Here is an article on expats residing in NZ.
