Looking for an accountant

Hi,

I am looking to join a practice which would hire me as an independent contractor.  I was wondering if anyone know a reliable accountant?  This is new to me and I would need guidance on the business and tax aspect of it. Thank you in advance!

Offhand, I do not. While there are several fee-only financial planning organizations that require a rather high standard for membership, which allows you to narrow down your options considerably, I know of no such thing for CPAs that is not a pay-to-play service, kind of like WCI mentions above. You can check with other physicians where you work. Unfortunately, we get a lot of physician CPA clients who were referred by a colleague and found the service to be just average. (Fortunately for us, I guess.) Unless you're in the business, it's really hard to differentiate a great CPA from a typical CPA.

While I believe they are the exception, rather than the rule, there are many great CPA firms out there. The blog post I wrote for WCI may help:
