  • Tax "Refund"--anybody still waiting?

Still haven't gotten my overpayment from the IRS. Granted, I did file an extension (thank you K-1s...ok, actually, just thank you CityVest), but it wasn't wicked late. Four-plus months later and it is still crickets.

Luckily, the refund due is a couple hundred bucks, but it just irritates me. More worrisome, I had/have a lot of moving parts this year so Taxes 2022 will be a WAG. (If only POF would put together a spreadsheet of safe harbor penalty/IRS interest/opportunity cost of VTSAX.)

Anybody else experiencing long delays in their tax "refunds?"

I'm still waiting, but I'm 99% sure it's because my miserable prior nanny payroll company screwed up the tax submission process.

I just received mine yesterday, about a month after my accountant submitted my tax return. She said it would be slower than normal because the IRS is suffering from similar staffing shortages as the rest of the country

Yes, I had to file an extension as well and made the mistake of a decent sized overpayment. I’ll be owing this year.

            Probably.

Although I thought it was because every employee in Treasury was reassigned to the mailroom sending out stimulus/COVID/child care/unemployment checks to every citizen except for the pathetic schmucks in our tax bracket.

Interesting that you got yours with such a quick turnaround.

If you are getting taxes squared away too fast, I know a real estate access fund company that can slow things down for you.

I'm skeptical of these real estate syndications and other alternative investments already. The tax complications seal the deal that I am not interested in them.

I got mine about a month ago. So late they had to pay me interest.
My cpa informs me this is taxable income. He's a bit of a buzzkill

Got it in a timely manner in March. Then filed an amended return late March after realizing I was due more, which the IRS website kindly informs me "has not been processed." Will be shocked if I even get it before I file again next year. Good enough for government work, it seems.

Taking donations for a Lordosis voodoo doll 😎.

To be fair, COVID and the many date change shenanigans threw the IRS for a loop and they’re still behind and probably w/b for some time. Our client notices for balances due re: amounts already sent in has gone up 10-fold, no joke. This is impacting CPA firms (who are being blamed for these notices) all across the country, know first-hand. Long, long waits for processing. Otoh, states in which taxpayers have a balance due have demonstrated a remarkable ability to send out notices + pen/int in mere weeks for some reason. Something is not right about that.

                          Right?

Or prioritizing the free/unearned money ahead of the folks that actually worked for it. You know, working during that time when--although decadent to have a job--there was that undertone of potentially dying from an untreatable virus contracted at said job?

                          Talking federal of course

A man goes to a psychiatrist claiming to be a teepee. The psychiatrist is puzzled. The man returns but this time is reporting that he is a wigwam. Eventually he runs out of time and leaves again. On his third visit he is back to being a teepee.

Finally the psychiatrist snapped his fingers and shouts ah ha! You are two tents!
