  • High incomer seeking free tax efiling

So it appears that most companies offer free tax efiles for those under an AGI of $62k, so is there anyone getting free efiling above that amount? Has anyone just used the IRS fillable forms that do the math for you and was it easy?

Compared to my time, Turbotax (or similar) is totally worth it just to keep me from having to redo the math on a single form. Not to mention run "scenarios."

Unsure what youre alluding to here? You mean if you filled them out by hand and didnt buy Turbotax or something? Seems like a lot of hassle and chance to miss things for zip gain. That is frugality taken too far my friend. I buy the turbotax and i thought it included a free fed file and one state, maybe not, doesnt matter its definitely worth it.

I was researching this and the IRS provides fillable forms that do the math. I think it is a shame that so many companies make money from our duty to pay taxes and lobby Congress to make this "market" even exist.

What level of Turbotax do you pay for, WCI (or others)? I don't have a state income tax to file for.

Minimum level required for my return. This year that'll probably be Home and Business but I've gotten away with less in the past when things weren't as complex.
