  • Telemedicine and Travel

I currently work as a telehealth provider and receive a 1099-misc. This job does not require me to travel but does allow me to work from wherever I want

If I am out of town and working (i.e. more than half the day) are any of the travel expenses tax deductible?

Ordinary AND necessary? Don’t see any business purpose.

Concur withTim’s comments. If you need to travel to perform the work, then it is reasonable to deduct at least part of the costs. If you are working in a particular location only because you have traveled there for another (i.e. personal) reason, there is no “necessary” purpose to support the deduction.
