  • Job Interview Reimbursement counts as taxable income?!

I'm hoping some other people here have run into this . . . was traveling around the country last year interviewing for jobs.  One of the hospitals reimbursed me after I paid for the hotel, car, flight etc.  They just sent me a 1099 MISC as income for this reimbursement ($1300, was cross country and a 2 day interview).  Do I have to report this on my tax return as income? This was not income, this was a reimbursement.
    Thanks

That was unnecessary. They should have asked for receipts, reimbursed you and not sent the 1099. What you need to do:

    • File a schedule C-EZ for $1,300 on line 1 (income) for the IRS matching system

    • Enter $1,300 on line 2.

    • Enter $  -0- on line 3.
