  • eligible for .25% interest reduction on $0 payments?

Hi all, I am an incoming pgy1.  I have committed to REPAYE with $0 payments as I had no income this past year.  I am planning on the govt covering 1/2 of interest accrued and paying off the rest.  However, if I set up auto-payment (through Navient) on my $0 payments paying $0, will the govt still pay that 1/2 interest that accrues?

I tried this, didn't work for me; plus whenever I tried to talk to someone at the company about this, it was like I was speaking a foreign language.  They couldn't understand why I wanted auto-payment with $0 payments.

    Maybe you'll have better luck.

I don't understand your question in your paragraph...but to answer the question of the title of this post, yes, an automated $0 per month payment qualified for the 0.25% interest reduction for automated payments through FedLoan.

worst case scenario you do a $5 autopay and that works just fine
