Quick question, can a backdoor Roth be partially funded? Say in two parts (3000 first six months, 3000 next)? Appreciate thoughts

Contributions are tax year, conversions are calendar year. Note you have greater than a year on the funding

Of course, but since you have to call the brokerage to transfer from your trad IRA to Roth, easier to do $6k all at once.

If you are wanting to DCA, you can put it all in in Jan and then buy SPY or VOO or VTI or singles or whatever you buy in chunks.

Yes, absolutely, but do each Roth conversion as soon as you can after making the IRA contribution, because you want to avoid making any gains in the interval between when you make the contribution and when you convert it.
