  • Is there any reason to keep a SEP-IRA open after transferring to a i401k?

I opened a SEP-IRA this year to be able to take advantage of additional tax deferment  since I did not get my i401K opened in 2016.  I am rolling the money into the i401k now.  Is there any reason to keep the SEP-IRA open, or should I click the box to transfer the entire amount and close the account?

I didn't come up with one for us.  I closed the SEP when it rolled into the 401k.  My brokerage did leave a sweep order open so any lingering dividends moved over to the 401k.

Close the account unless you really like getting extra emails and paperwork! They may close it for you after a certain period of time.
