when peds says "plan" he means your personal investment statement, not your IRA plan. what is your AA allocation? Are you okay with it? invest the $120k based on your AA and do it across all of your retirement plans, not within each individual plan

DODIX or your favorite total bond market index fund, maybe add a sprinkling of PFF, no more than 20% of the $120k.

            Don't overreach for yield.

What about putting the IRA in a SPIA?

have read a lot about spia and annuities
if I put 500k in an annuity with husband/wife. 20 yr certain, it pays 2400/month
                a paltry return
                avoid variable axnnuities
an ins guy was trying to get me to buy an IUL f or my son as a ret. income vehicle all tax free???
