  • Taking out cash equity in primary home to invest?

Our home has increased in value a lot in the past 4 years where we have 400K untapped equity in the home. Do people actually do a cash out refinance with their primary home and use money to buy a second investment property or syndication? Is it stupid to even think about doing this?

    They do.
but except in specific exceptional situations, they should not.

In one move you would increase both your debt and your risk.

My primary residence is sacred. I’m all for taking chances and leveraging things I’m willing to walk away from but my home is not one of those things.
