  • New Practice: Suggestions on professionals

We are in the process of starting a new specialty practice in a small metro area.  Can anybody make suggestions on how to find good accounting and legal help?  We are in Texas - and would like to go outside of our area for expertise, but obviously have someone skilled in our state.  I don't want to go to the biggest name firm I can find and get charged an arm and a leg - but I would like someone who is up to date on how new legal issues can help/hinder the business.

    Any suggestions?

I found in these small areas there were 1-2 guys that took care of all the docs.

So I would ask your colleagues who they use

I was skeptical at first but have been impressed with our "local" guy, but obviously still hit and miss.

Maybe the more experienced guys can get u some screening test questions

Thanks, I'm interested to hear opinions.  I'm partially concerned about keeping abreast of issues, and partially concerned about confidentiality -- I know this shouldn't be a concern when dealing with licensed professionals.... but the local guys tell me stuff they shouldn't tell me.

Yea my local CPA told me salaries of others which was helpful for me when dealing with the hospital, but I'm sure means that my info is probably being passed around-- so your small town concerns are probably valid
