My Guide for New Attendings (part 2 in a 3-part series) is now available for download on our website, along with part 1, Guide for Residents. Part 3, Guide for Established Attendings and Pre-Retirees will be up within a week. The idea for these guides came from a nice thread responding to a poster here asking for a list of financial priorities for residents to address (which I am having trouble locating at the moment).

Please let me know what you think - all constructive criticism welcomed. btw, a few participants on WCI (including Himself) are mentioned.

this looks like it has potential to be useful, but if you really wanted to make it available to all I shouldn't have to give away my email address and personal info to access it

Thank you for the feedback, Georgiaboy. I believe the guides are very useful. Please understand that I'm in business, though, and have put over 100 hours into researching, editing, and putting them together. Almost any website you visit offers free material in exchange for an email addy and then bombards you with sales information. In my case, the only reason we ask for the email for is to send you our monthly e-newsletter, which you can immediately unsubscribe from and never hear from us again. I have too much to lose by using hard sell tactics as I am quite visible here on WCI as opposed the the anonymity most folks enjoy. My reputation is important. It's actually a pretty fair exchange and I hope you understand.

That said, I'll be happy to send you whichever copy you want if you'll pm me your email address. Then if you think the guide is useless, I would appreciate more feedback.

I look forward to Part 3 and am voicing my support for Ms. Fox and the legitimacy of asking for an email address in exchange for her proprietary material. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Awesome guide - and appreciate you referencing the DocEden PSLF Planner!

My only suggestion is pg 9 where disability insurance is discussed and it says "high debt that is dischargeable only through death or paying it off".  If you go to http://www.disabilitydischarge.com you will see that the high debt (if federal loans) can be forgiven under total and permanent disability.  While this is definitely not "own occupation", there is a way to get student loans discharged with total and permanent disability.

I tried to download part 2 to my iPad and it did not work. I will try on my laptop later. I would second vagabond that I am interested in part 3 and think an email address is ok for the info

Thanks for the head's up, hatton1. I just tried on my iPad and could not do so, either. Will try to figure out the problem today.
