  • Anyone using Status?

An ad for this popped up on my facebook feed. Looks like another site that aggregates your accounts to track spending, net worth, etc, but also compares you both to peers and nationally. I'm mildly curious about how I compare, but also know that I shouldn't really worry as long as I'm meeting my own personal goals. Does anyone use this site? Pros/cons?

Interesting but dont know about it.

Twitter has a similar function where it estimates the demographics of your followers/interactions, its pretty crazy what they know.

      i like the idea.

not sure how they are tagging data (ie how easy to get hacked). but thats the same with all these companies i guess.

might give it a try and report back.

i think im more afraid how far behind we are in comparison haha!

Seems like just another mint, pc, etc...that data for age is almost anywhere online. it will be a subset based on who uses the site of course, so likely will skew higher than general population.

That's what I was wondering, are your "peers" just age based?

Signed up.  Very basic interface.  Not very impressed.  It basically filters you into the following categories:

            -Age

            -Income

            -Location

-Location Subtype (Urban / Suburban / Rural)

            -Credit Score

            -Rent vs Own

You can then compare yourself to other pre-set filters (your area, your peers, your income) or create your own.  I tried to create my own by just changing the location and it kept giving me an error saying sample size <5k; which was odd as I was choosing large metro areas (Chicago, NYC, ect).  To make it "Free," it gives you suggestions for credit card options, etc just like free credit score does.  For some reason, it thinks my Ally No Penalty CDs all have 0% interest rates and flags them for improvement.

Don't think I'll use this in the future.

            Overall grade: D

Peers is all ages, but filters the rest of your "peers" based on the other options.

I've probably learned as much as I care to about how I stack up with my peers by reading these forums, lol.  I realize it's a skewed distribution of financially savvy physicians, but I'd rather not feel too good about myself comparing myself to "average peers."

Would anyone be interested in something like this specifically for physicians-- any particular features they'd like to see? Coincidentally this is similar to one of my now sidelined side-projects. It's basically dead because I can't offer enough value for people to pay the secure-bank data clearinghouse fees. If you have ideas about what you want to see in something like this, let me know!

Reminds me of OpenFolio, which publicly shows the "investor average returns" of users on their platform. Looks like their graph function is broken compared to when I first ran into it a few months ago.

After playing with the graph, some of it works for the 1-year timeframe. Have to disable the adblocker.

Right - I noticed that it has some of the data in the 1-year timeframe. Not sure if they have investor data only for certain timeframes (and it is currently not registering investor returns).
