Residency/Fellowship Disability Insurance Discounts and Availability

For those residents and fellows that are graduating, keep in mind, that the discounts available through your residency/fellowship programs (if they are tied to them and not a medical association) DO NOT END TOMORROW!

They will be available for 60-90 days after you complete your training. So, don't panic, you still have time to secure those discounts.

Unfortunately, many residents and fellows are under the impression or have been told otherwise and this is simply not the case.

FWIW, my program had a group plan but I found better rates going through an agent listed on WCI with nearly identical benefits. About half price.

Larry makes a good point about the cutoff date.  In fact I have had carriers give me up to a 1 year out to still grab that discount....never hurts to ask!
