No health insurance for 1+ months between fellow and attending job - pay a penalty?

I just received my 2020 1095-C showing full health insurance for my entire family. i will be transitioning from fellow to attg and taking july off, so I will not have any health ins until August 1. I am planning to use COBRA if needed, as has been suggested on this forum.

because i received my 1095 today, it got me thinking, since I cannot claim that i have been covered for health insurance all 12 months of the year, will this incur a penalty?

Unless you live in a state that has a requirement!

I think no penalty applied unless you were uninsured for more than 3 consecutive months. Could be mistaken. Would assume states that have a mandate would follow a similar rule.
