I've recently been reading up on retirement and decided to open a Roth IRA with Vanguard since that was the suggested option for a student who is pursuing medicine. So now I plan to get a few shares of VTI and keep it for the long term. The reason why I didn't go for a mutual fund account at Vanguard is because I don't have $3000 to open an account, but I like having price fluctuations that VTI provides. So onto the questions:
1. Am I doing everything correct so far? I'm so scared I'm not going down the right path, but from what I read so far, this seems like a good option to buy VTI and have the dividends reinvest.
2. And now what? I haven't gotten a job where a 401K match was offered, so I don't have a 401K account yet. Should I open one of those along with my new Vanguard brokerage account? Are there any other accounts I should have opened at this time?
3. What are the most helpful White Coat Investor threads I should read for someone in my current position? I'm willing to read whatever is recommended, but I just want to learn all this stuff since no one in my family or relatives know anything about this sort of topic.
Thanks a million for reading and for any responses!!!!
