Is it conceivable that you can be happy where you are with some changes? Can you get off the treadmill without leaving your job? Is weather the major driving factor or is job dissatisfaction?

Feel like I need more information to offer any advice.  If you don't want to discuss your specialty, how about private practice vs academics vs hospital employed for starters.  Also, what is important to you?  Lifestyle, pay, schools, etc.?  This is a big move, and I'd have a long conversation with my spouse about our mutual interests and goals before considering a move like this.  Reality may not match and the grass isn't always greener - except in your situation where it almost assuredly is, given the cold.  :-)

The best jobs are obtained, word-of-mouth, from your network of colleagues from your professional past. Jobs that make it to recruiters are ones that are difficult to fill, often for good reasons (that you do not want to learn).

I would try and pick the city or location first and then go from there

In my procedural specialty the industry reps are usually the best resource to get the scoop and to make connections

Otherwise I would cold call or hit up past contacts if u have some

I’m not a huge fan of recruiters and listed jobs as vagabond pointed out

Cold call. I got all my job interviews that way and my current job.

As above. Decide on the location, then investigate every potential opportunity there and cold call.
