Doing Business As (DBA) for website/blog

Thinking about starting a general website/blog. Should I get business license on my name or get DBA?

Not sure I'd do either until I started making money. A blog isn't a business. What's your business?

Plan to run a website for non-professional articles, recipes etc. I think it will end up having comments and might have a blog. It may generate revenue through advertising. I think I might need FEIN and general business license from city as I will employ my kids. I do get some money from surveys and I can put it together with website income (if any) to show income. I do schedule C for survey income every year anyway.

Well, if the business is surveys and website advertising, then I suppose either is fine. But look carefully, you may not need the business license. Depends on your local law.
