I don't worry about money or argue with my spouse about where we should spend money, at least not the way my parents did growing up. I feel rich. Part of this is how I was brought up and maybe people I'm around, but having a sense of financial security for basic and daily expenses and occasional surprise expenses makes me feel rich as well. Everything else is a nice bonus.

This does not exist. Look at Mike Tyson, who squandered his fortune of something like $300 M.
Unless you're in Congress in which case it's anyone who makes more than you do.

There are a lot of situations/people I can think of where i obviously know that I’m not that rich, comparatively . But I’m not envious of them either—or at least I’m not envious of their money (I may be envious of their talents…and their talents may be a large part of what made them rich…but I want the talent, not their wealth). I can’t remember the last time I didn’t buy something because of how much it cost. More so I don’t buy it because the style isn’t quite right/I don’t want to take care of it/I’m too lazy or sentimental to get rid of something else and I don’t want to become a hoarder with multiples of stuff I don’t need/something else logistical.
I actually don’t think that feeling “rich” is part of my DNA. When things get too fancy I start to feel out of place. But I do feel very financially secure.

So yes, having just $1M won't make you feel rich.
But neither will $150B+ make you happy - Just ask Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.
The right amount is somewhere in between - for feeling rich and happy..

Maybe you are confusing being a millionaire with spending like a millionaire. I think most equate being rich with having the ability to spend which is a lot different than having enough money to live a comfortable financially worry free life

As my net worth grows, it just feels like a number on a screen.
I don’t know what it really means to feel rich. I feel financially comfortable so I can spend $500 on my family for a fancy dinner, or pay the tab during my goodbye lunch with my office staff. Heck, I don’t argue my wife buying groceries at Whole Foods now.
I’m sure anyone around me thinks I’m rich as they know I’ve made enough in the stock market to not have to work anymore and that’s one of the reasons why I’m leaving.
I guess feeling rich is a spectrum. Anyone that has more than you is rich. Or you can throw in the philosophical feeling rich with happiness with what you have in family and finances.

You must have a net worth 50 M or greater to not argue about Whole Foods prices.
