There is a new stock ownership process now focusing on startup IPOs (the place where money is really made). It is like Reg D stock (SEC Qualified, audited, reporting, etc.) and full SEC reporting and accountabiliyt - but with what the financial folks call 'disintermediation", that means you buy directly from the company (typically over the web) and not through someone who collects a commission like a broker or underwriter. You can give the stock away or sell it (most companies, after their offering is complete, list it on an exchange) and nobody has to be accredited) Usually the minimum purchase is $1,000, a great way to get into profitable IPOs, and it makes a most unique gift. For more info and a company lead go to www.manegain.com and their FAQs.
