Censorship?!

I started a thread talking about the election, but it appears to have disappeared.

This is a public forum but a private business so certainly its the prerogative of the site managers to remove topics they don't want discussed here.  However I think this group would have a lot of discourse that elevates well above what's out in the rest of the blogosphere and it would have been fun to engage in...

Sorry for the confusion - it was in the "Welcome" section and we decided it was was better suited to the Lounge, where we welcome provocative discussions!

My censored post was on a different thread, and I don't even recall what I wrote. However you deleted the entire post, you didn't just "edit" the post -- did I just write a series of cuss words and black out?

The post had five words in it. One was a cuss word. Without the cuss word the sentence had no meaning. I figured it was an emotional day for everyone so I just deleted it and moved on without making a big deal of it.

The threshold to get moderated is much higher in the lounge, but profanity, pornography and similar still isn't allowed.

But I think something like f*** this s*** should be allowed. ?

I don't generally equate profanity with porn, but I guess we have different perspectives.

I agree with the spirit behind the forum rules. A physician-oriented site should have higher standards, IMO. There are plenty of places to cuss on the internet, if it is something that you feel compelled to do.

And I like people with a sense of humor, which seems sorely lacking here.

The internet is a hard place to appreciate nuance, but the smiley faces and references to comedy movies should make it clear I am having fun with this. I am sorry you can't appreciate that.

Pretty sure I said I respect the rules (The Dude Abides). I do not have a history of using profanity on here, even when I vehemently disagree with people. However even this forum is often an impersonal place, so I don't take the nanny state oversight personally.
