I'm a doc in a small town. I tell people that I work at the local hospital. That usually satisfies their curiosity and allows us to continue with the conversation. The people I haven't met yet, just assume that I'm a nurse. The one's I have interacted with already know that I'm pretty down to earth (grew up poor and worked on the farm until I left for school).
