  • Brexit investing?

Anyone swooping in today to do some opportunistic buying?  Small caps & US dollar hedged European ETFs here (I buy individual stocks only rarely <<1% of portfolio = play money)

I was thinking about buying VTIAX (total international stock market) in my taxable account, however i have no money in my MMF. Do you guys always keep money ready in your MMF in case such opportunity arises?

If I had some extra uninvested money I would.  I might wait a few days it may drop some more.  I might be doing some tax loss selling if this continues.

I nibbled on some VGK and VEA, more of a gesture than an investment.

I always have cash around. 2000-2 and 2008 taught me that lesson.

Im picking things up here and there, trimming winning/expensive etfs for those getting crushed. Always nice to have days like these where short term thoughts get the best of the markets.

Did some shopping, but kept some cash at hand in case it drops further.

I don't get paid until next Friday, so I will wait to invest until next Friday.

There may be a small TLH opportunity, but probably not much, since most of today's losses are offset by very recent gains.

Otherwise, I'll be staying the course.

I invested my monthly 401(k) money this morning- all in International stocks. I have no idea if the market will be lower tomorrow, next month, or next year, but I'm quite confident it will be higher in 20-50 years when I spend this money.

WCI, do you invest your stipulated 401k amount every month or do you wait longer... maybe upto 3 months or so to wait for a good price? Or, on the other hand, if you get a really really good price, if you have extra cash at the time, do you put it into your 401k "ahead of time"? Thanks!

I just took Johanna's advice and did a partial Roth conversion. I am still working part-time so I had planned to wait until fully retired but decided to take advantage of the Brexit panic! Now I finally have some Roth money!!!!

No, I invest it when I get it. If I forget I have it, maybe a few days later. Just happened to coincide with the drop this time.

I would never remember if I had to do it manually- just goes in 2x monthly. Sadly the 401K went in a couple days ago.... I did put a couple K into my taxable this morning though... Look at me planning ahead - I actually transferred some money into my account last week for this reason!

Waiting at least until next week before contributing to my Roth, likely to add more VTIAX. Don't want to catch the falling knife just yet.
