    Agree.

If you’ve held total stock market index or 500 index funds for more than the past 2 years then there hasn’t been any opportunity to TLH.

So the poll question might be, is not having enough losses to tax loss harvest during prolonged market drops a better situation than reaping (and resetting with) a tax loss harvest?

I might modify this to no LTCG. There has been a short term loss YTD. But I’d be happy with no opportunity to TLH. It is more something I do to make lemonade out of lemons. I’m actually saving up losses to cover capital gains when I sell a property.

I did a little TLH yesterday, but nothing crazy. 2k or so worth.

What do you mean worth it? Doesn't cost you much. If it gets worse it gets worse

Agree. Ive had >$50K STCL YTD and minimal LTCL for TLH. Hopefully stays that way.. if you've held for many years another story

Another great opportunity to TLH today if you missed it before!

Got my TLH in on Tuesday. Dumped half my quarterly bonus into the market today as well. It's the only part of my finances that isn't automated, because the bonuses vary. Dumping money into a falling market doesn't feel great, but when does it ever?

Stocks on sale, baby! I hate it when the market is up on the day I buy!

After buying stocks approximately 200 times (16 years x 12 months), I've stopped caring. It's just a chore at this point. Sometimes they go up afterward and sometimes they go down. I usually don't even check for a month or two and at that point I'm doing it again anyway. If they went up since I bought I'm happy. If they went down, I'm happy I get to buy at a lower price than the month before. Win-win either way.

Heard WCI mention on a recent podcast that you have to hold a stock for 60 days for it to be qualified dividend. TLH too often you could end up with higher taxes on unqualified dividends.

true but depends on the size of the dividends. I recently did this with VLCAX but their dividends was only 298; the tlh was over 2k, so I think I came out ahead. Ive set my tlh threshold higher and if I dont reach it but I feel theres a sale, I just buy more

What is a good TLH partner for VTIAX? The Vanguard Total International Stock Index.

Also for TIPS, I've used the partner pair of VIPSX (vanguard) and SCHP (Schwab). They're both intermediate term, but have some differences (I think, but I'm not sure). Anyone use anything else?

After exchanging VTI to ITOT to SCHB I just TLH’d again, pretty reluctantly. To a combo of VOO and VXF. Not fun to make my portfolio even more complicated.
