I guarantee you the gov doesn't know how much BTC I have

the gov can easily compel the compliant, centralized ETH validators to freeze coins. This already happens

and centralized controllers of ETH have already demonstrated that they can reverse a transaction they don't like. See the DAO hack

they can't do the same with bitcoin

You probably buy your bitcoin from an exchange which has your bank account info (auditable), then you transfer that bitcoin to an address but there's a record of that now with the exchange that has your info. There are definitely centralized controllers in BTC as well. There's this whole meme that it's the most decentralized, but that's far from the truth. Lots of big whales control the BTC price, it's obvious.

you would be wrong to assume you know how I acquire my bitcoin

again you're not refuting what I've said

you can be bullish on eth and at the same time recognize that eth and btc are not solving for the same problem

BTC is not solving any problems though. It's actually creating problems like environmental disasters in developing countries from its energy waste. Proof of work is obsolete and will be replaced by newer, more energy efficient protocols.

"self sovereign money is important" "yes bitcoin and eth are solving the same problem" "bitcoin isn't solving any problems though"

lol, this is a pretty good troll

There are privacy protocols such as tornado cash on ethereum. Bitcoin has no such ability. So if you are worried about having uncensorable money, ethereum already figured that out better than bitcoin.

Again, just look at the price chart. It doesn't lie mate. Ethereum is up 10x from COVID lows. Bitcoin is barely up 3x from the same time period.

lol you are proving my point. Validators will censor transactions that interact with tornado cash because the state told them to. This already happened

if you're unaware of the multiple routes for collaborative transactions on bitcoin to obfuscate coin ownership, thats on you

Bitcoin is just not interesting. Does bitcoin have anything like etherscan? Dextools? Dapps? NFTs? Defi? DAOs? Staking? Cross-chain interoperability? Deflationary mechanisms?

It's code hasn't been updated in years. Devs flock to ETH not BTC.

"not interesting" that's kinda the point. Go read the white paper. I didn't read anything in there about all that stuff you find interesting

bitcoin and eth are different things, which was my point in the first place

You can still buy it. I never said it wouldn't go back up again. I'm just saying there are superior products out there that perform better.

"superior" is undefined. You seem to ignore worrying about any actual utility

Bitcoin is like a horse-drawn carriage. Ethereum more like a race car.

                          • Thank you for fighting the good fight Jaco. I had to check out from the convo for a while as I got tired of answering the same questions over and over again.

I didn't think I would return to an ETH shill on this forum. Definitely didn't have that on my Bingo card when I started this thread. I have enough trouble dealing with idiots like Ryan Sean Adams. So sick of people that have no idea what they are talking about and evade the most basic of questions. I refuse to even acknowledge their existence at this point as they all have the exact same Modus Operandi.

                              • Looks like risk appetite is back. BTC up >25% YTD. It'll be fun seeing what it does from here.
