  • Advise on short term cash

After selling two properties I have $700k.  I plan to use all theses funds on a second home that I am looking to buy.  I have not located a home yet, but presumably will in the next 1-6 months.  Aside from a money market fund at Vanguard what option would you recommend to increase my yield?  Thanks

Money market fund at Vanguard should be your best bet.

Short term investing over a max of six mos is more of a gamble than an investment.

This isn't a 1031 exchange by any chance, is it?

If you are certain you will buy that second home, High-yield savings account. With that short of a time horizon, you can't invest that in the stock or even the bond market.  +1 on Ally Bank, their 1% savings rate even beats 6 month Treasuries (0.85%).
