Actually, there was an anonymous survey done here a year or so ago. Not only compensation, years in practice, house, investments a pretty good picture of wealth (both assets and debt) and specialties.
Surprise, surprise, surprise. Lower number of years and lower comp led to less wealth. I answered you specific question, medscapes average. A lot of assumptions.

The last person that wanted details ran into a brick wall.
Not out of hostility, primarily responding wasn’t worth the effort. I have to kind of giggle. Passive aggressive post simply to get a grin doesn’t seem worth the effort.

Next question please. Cut me a break. The only way I get to an OR is with an ID bracelet.
Curious, how did you scope out comp before?

Well it's been over 10 years since I was an MS3 but back then I used the surveys done annually by my specialty society to know what the averages in this specialty were.

It’s a ignorant question so what did you expect. LOL

I’d be mad too if I was a Kaiser employee making Kaiser salaries and living in the Bay Area.

BTW if you look at the original post the question wasn’t just the median salary but the physician salary percentiles, which isn’t as easily searchable.

I am not sure that answer is available.  MGMA has specialty specific percentiles but I don't know of them aggregating all together

I don’t think anyone is hesitant about money. Seems you went from wanting a (non)global physician range to seemingly wanting to know specialty and salary from each user.

If the 250 number were true, and if most doctors have a doctors lifestyle. I guess it would make sense why many physicians struggle financially.

I understand, but I’m actually surprised that even on a physician financial forum I get backlash when I ask the question: “How much do doctors make?” Why are doctors so hesitant on talking about money?

It is not backlash, it is just it is so variable and there is no one answer. No one is going to post their income and specialty on this board for all to see so that you can satisfy your curiosity of how much physicians make. Maybe you can get the ball rolling by posting your specialty and your income.

Heck, I don't know the salary of the specialists in my field who are in my town. I hear only rumors, not hard facts.

Reminds me of a question I saw in another forum about the salary of a CEO. Most posters were jumping to the conclusion that it was very high, in the range of $10-100M based on the news reports of a handful of outrageous salaries + bonuses given to CEO's of large corporations.

There was a Planet Money or Freakonomics episode a while back that answered this. If you define CEO as the head of a company, most CEP's are one or two person venture, like independent plumbers or AC repair services. And even if you restrict the CEO to a company of 5+ people or above the income is not much. The average CEO pay was $150K, not millions.

I suspect the same variability in physicians too. A few superstars, but the rest getting standard pay and  benefits of +/- $250K.

it’s a benign question, but it’s a long, complicated way to get something you can google.
