    Starting a facebook group

    Hey guys!  Long time WCI reader here.  I started a facebook group called health professionals finance group.  My aim was to get the message of financial literacy out there with other health professionals (particularly new graduates).  I plan on going over the basic stuff (budgeting, student loan issues, etc.) and transition over to the intermediate stuff (investing, taxes, estate planning).

    I would love some input and ideas on how to enhance this group.  Feel free to add yourself if you are a health professional yourself (MD/DO, DDS, PT, etc).

      I think there is already at least one Facebook group on this topic out there. You might want to look into whether or not that audience has already been built for you before trying to recreate the wheel.

              My passion is protecting clients and others from predatory and ignorant advisors 270-247-6087 for CPA clients (we are Flat Fee for both CPA & Fee-Only Financial Planning)

                  There's one called physician finance with about 2,500 members. You may just want to join that one rather than start a new one from scratch.

                      That's the one I was thinking of.

                          And Married to Medicine Personal Finance (started by an MD) > 2K members

                          Both require you be a doc or married to one.

                          There is also the Women Physicians Personal Finance Group > 10K members now.

                              I think he wanted a less exclusive one to include more backgrounds, more income levels, etc.

                              And Married to Medicine Personal Finance is ridiculous - they kicked me out for informing someone their plan was less than ideal and utilizing mental math when given distinct figures ("oh, so you said you save $100,000 a year with a 10% savings rate - you should save more if you make a million a year").  They didn't want to be educated or improve anything, they just wanted cheerleaders for themselves.

                              I'm not eligible for the women physicians' one :-/

                                  Thanks for the input all. As David said...it will be for multiple health care professionals....little less focused than physicians only. I will not kick anyone out for giving their $0.02 in a respectful manner

                                      Sorry the question marks were meant to be a smiley face.

                                      On a separate topic, anyone know of some veterinarians that I can get to join? I hear their situations are not ideal and can use some help from a forum.

                                          I fixed it for you, hope that's ok. So will the group allow financial advisors by invite only? Or is this medical professionals only? Promise I won't get my feelings hurt if you think the latter option is better

                                              I think initially that people "in the field" with working knowledge of finances should take part in the discussions.  I'm on the Dental Investment Group and there are some advisors who have created a lot of post wars.  As good as that is for engagement, i want something a little bit more civilized.
